  • Two occupants of each car were injured in a collision at 1:24 p.m. Sunday, March 30, in Lewis County, Mo.
    The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the collision was on state Highway 6 one mile west of Lewistown.
    Officers said Kevin D. Johnston, 23, of New London, Mo., was driving a westbound 1999 Ford Taurus and attempted to pass another vehicle.
    His car hit an eastbound 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Karol D. Sharpe, 45, of Lewistown. Both cars stopped off the road.
    Johnston suffered moderate injuries. His passenger, Miranda M. Martin, 18, of Hannibal, suffered serious injuries. Both were flown to Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Ill.
    Sharpe had minor injuries. Her son, Colten L. Sharpe, 13, had serious injuries. Both went by ambulance to Blessing Hospital.
    All four injured persons were wearing seat belts when the collision occurred.
    The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department and Ewing Fire and Rescue  Department.
