Norma Axton, 81, of Palmyra, MO, died at 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be Monday, March 31, 2014, from 5 -7 p.m., at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the Grand View Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Baitinger will officiate. Burial will follow at the Grand View Burial Park.
Norma was born on October 6, 1932, in Alicia, AR. She was the daughter of Herman and Lulu Larue Sandusky. She was married to Patrick H. Axton.
Her parents, her husband, two brothers, Charles and Vernon Sandusky; two sisters, Mamie Mann and Thelma Foster; and one daughter, Linda Gale, preceded her in death.
She is survived by one brother, Arlie Sandusky, of Doniphan, MO; one sister, Beatrice Johnson, of Jonesboro, AR; one son, Rev. Robert (Sandy) Axton, of Palmyra, MO; three daughters, Barbara (Steven) Fuqua of Hannibal, MO, Sharon (Carl) James of Hannibal, MO, and Carol (Barry) Buckwalter of Palmyra, MO; and fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Kenneth James, Byron James, Nathan Fuqua, Timothy Axton, Chris Axton, Jeff Orr, Nathaniel Hayden and Ryan Axton.
Norma was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. She would kneel at her prayer bench at approximately 4 a.m. every morning and pray for her family and church family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Before her health started to fail, her joy also included cleaning the United Pentecostal Church of Palmyra, where her son is the pastor. Norma was a charter member.
Norma will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
