Goldie Collette Homolos, 93, of Columbia, Missouri, and formerly of Hannibal, MO, died after a short illness on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at her home in Columbia, MO.

Goldie Collette Homolos, 93, of Columbia, Missouri, and formerly of Hannibal, MO, died after a short illness on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at her home in Columbia, MO.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at Holy Family Church in Hannibal, MO. Father Michael Penn will officiate.  Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Hannibal.  

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014, with Rosary at 1:30 p.m. at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.

Mrs. Homolos was born March 10, 1921, in Hannibal, MO to Joseph A. and Goldie Laura Koch Cady.

She was married to James Homolos. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include 1 brother, Joe Cady (Betty) of Columbia, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and 2 sisters, Abbie Brown (Lansing) and Henrietta Miller (Harold). 

Her kindness, generosity and quick wit will survive inside numerous nieces and nephews of multiple generations. Her handmade quilts will be her legacy to those of us lucky enough to have loved her for so long. 

Goldie served as nurse in the United States Army during World War ll in the Pacific Theatre. Her nursing career in Hannibal included work at Hannibal Regional and St. Elizabeth Hospital. 

She continued to serve these institutions in her retirement in such a way as to win the Volunteer of the Year award from both institutions.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Honor Flight or a charity of the donor's choice in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
