  • The project
A parish center is being built at 218 S. Maple Ave. in Hannibal. The two-level structure will feature 5,400 square feet.
The parish offices will be housed in the new building. In addition there will be ample space for meetings and funeral luncheons.
There will be a kitchenette, restrooms and storage space for parish records on the lower level. The upper level will have a banquet room with seating for 100 people, a full kitchen and restrooms.

    What’s
    happening
A good deal of concrete was being poured Thursday morning. On the north side of the building workers could be seen putting the finishing touches on a new curb. On the south side, new sidewalk was being installed next to the structure.
“The lower lot is all poured,” said Father Mike Quinn of Holy Family Church. “The whole bottom level, the office and conference rooms, are all but complete.”

    What’s next
“They’re getting ready to put down flooring upstairs,” said Quinn.

    Anticipated cost
The projected cost of the construction project is $1,047,000.

    Who’s paying
The money necessary to pay for the center has already been pledged by church members. The pledges were made over the past year during the “Living our Faith, Building our Vision” fund-raising campaign.

    Projected date for completion
It was hoped that the new parish center would be ready for use by early 2014.
It is anticipated the building will be ready for occupancy before the end of March.
“We’re scheduled to do a final walk through on Tuesday (March 25),” said Quinn. “We’re getting ready to move into that space on Wednesday (March 26). We’re real excited about that.”
