  • Two Louisiana residents were injured Thursday morning when the vehicle they were in was hit by a train.

  • Two Louisiana residents were injured Thursday morning when the vehicle they were in was hit by a train.
    According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the mishap happened at 11:30 a.m. at 301 Sonoco Drive in Pike County.
    A 2008 GMC Acadia was being driven south by Marvin D. Burse, 37, of Louisiana. According to the accident report, the Acadia entered the crossing area where it was struck on the driver’s side by a Kansas City Southern engine which was westbound.
    Burse, who was left with minor injuries, was taken by ambulance to Pike County Memorial Hospital. A passenger in the Acadia, 25-year-old Nicole C. Ivey of Louisiana, sustained serious injuries. She was flown to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
    Both Burse and Ivey were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident.
