Hannibal, MO – Today Governor Jay Nixon announced that David N. Clayton has been appointed
as Prosecuting Attorney for Marion County. Clayton fills the vacancy left by Tom Redington, when
Redington accepted an appointment as Associate Circuit Judge for Knox County in January.
Doug Browne, assistant prosecutor has been managing the office in Redington’s absence.

"I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Marion County as their new
Prosecuting Attorney," states Clayton. "I pledge to work hard to improve the safety and security
of our community. I am thankful for Mr. Browne's years of service to our community and thank
him for helping with the transition. There is a lot of work to be done and I’m ready to get started.”

Clayton brings to the office an abundance of courtroom and trial experience. Previously employed
as an attorney for 10 years with the Missouri State Public Defender System, Clayton has
experience in dealing with the most serious of criminal cases.

David has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Westminster College and received his Juris
Doctor from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. He and his wife Allison reside
in Hannibal and have one son. Active in the community, Clayton is a member of Holy Family
Church, Hannibal Lions Club, and the Missouri and 10th Circuit Bar Associations.
