A 56-year-old Moberly man suffered moderate injuries Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle mishap in Shelby County.

A 56-year-old Moberly man suffered moderate injuries Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle mishap in Shelby County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the crash happened at 6 a.m. on U.S. 36 eight miles east of Shelbina.

A 2011 Ford E-350 van was being driven east by 56-year-old Joe D. Smallwood of Moberly. When Smallwood lost control of the vehicle on the ice-covered road, the van struck a bridge.

Smallwood, who was wearing a safety device, was taken by ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital.
