Ruth Evelyn Russell was born at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, becoming Hannibal Regional Hospital’s first baby in 2014.
She weighed 7 pounds and 9 ounces, and was 19 inches long.
Ruth is the daughter of John and Dr. Lisa Russell of Monroe City, Mo.
She joined two older sisters, Anna, 3; and Isabelle, who was 2 years old on Dec. 29.
Anna is ready to play with her youngest sister, but might have to wait awhile to play her favorite game, Hide and Seek.
“We thought she (Ruth) might be born on Isabelle’s birthday,” Lisa said. Ruth was due on Christmas, Dec. 25.
Lisa’s labor was induced on Jan. 2.
Ruth and her sisters are members of a busy family. Their dad is a lawyer, and their mother operates her own orthopedic practice.
Ruth is going home from the Chris Coons Women’s Care Center at the hospital with several gifts. Among them are:
• A $2,000 scholarship from Hannibal-LaGrange University
• A baby blanket and hat made by members of the Hannibal Regional Hospital Auxiliary
• A diaper bag and layette set from Birthright of Hannibal
• A large basket filled with baby gifts from Hannibal Regional Hospital.
