  • The project
A parish center is being built at 218 S. Maple Ave. in Hannibal. The two-level structure will feature 5,400 square feet.
The parish offices will be housed in the new building. In addition there will be ample space for meetings and funeral luncheons.
There will be a kitchenette, restrooms and storage space for parish records on the lower level. The upper level will have a banquet room with seating for 100 people, a full kitchen and restrooms.
    What’s
    happening
“They’ve got the insulation board up and the trusses are on,” said Janice Rupp of Holy Family Church. “The other day it looked like they were cutting the sidewalk going into the property.”

    What’s next
“I would say getting the roof on will be their next push. They’re going to want to get it winterized real fast,” said Rupp. “They’re going to try and get that storm water (system done). Once the storm water pipes and everything are in under our lower parking lot they said if it’s dry then they’ll go ahead and pour that parking lot. If we get caught with snow and nasty weather they won’t be able to do it so we’ve prayed for good weather.”

    Anticipated cost
The projected cost of the construction project is $1,047,000.
    Who’s paying
The money necessary to pay for the center has already been pledged by church members. The pledges were made over the past year during the “Living our Faith, Building our Vision” fund-raising campaign.
    Projected date for completion
It is hoped that the new parish center will be ready for use by early 2014.
Because of recent weather delays, Rupp doesn’t know if the completion date will have to be pushed back.
“We can roll with the punches and make the best of the situation,” she said.
