General Washington's farewell address to his troops

The Battle of Yorktown in 1781 was the deciding battle of the Revolutionary War, but it took another two years for word to get back to Great Britain and peace treaties negotiated, written, approved, and signed. On November 2, 1783, General George Washington had his "Farewell Order" read to all troops wherever they were. The army was discharged/disbanded effective November 4.
