  • Eight-year-old attacked by pit bull

  • An 8-year-old Hannibal girl was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital Friday, Nov. 1, after being attacked by a pit bull.

  • An 8-year-old Hannibal girl was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital Friday, Nov. 1, after being attacked by a pit bull.
    The Hannibal Fire Department was called to the 200 block of Quincy Street, near Walnut Street, at 3:36 p.m. Friday.
    Firefighters reported the girl went to the hospital, and the dog was picked up by the animal control officer.
    According to a report on KHQA-TV, the girl suffered puncture wounds to her upper leg, stomach and chest.
    The TV report stated Animal Control Officer Tim Ledbetter was on the scene and said the dog, a 1-year-old male pit bull named Capone, got loose from its home on West Terrace Street .
    Ledbetter said the dog will be deemed dangerous after the unprovoked attack. The dog was up to date on his rabies vaccinations.
