  • Barbara Anne Ebel, 79, of Quincy, Ill., formerly of Hannibal, Mo., died at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at North Adams Nursing Home in Mendon, Ill.
    Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Quincy, Ill. Pastor Martin Eden will officiate. All friends and family are welcome to come to the interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Saturday, at 1:30 p.m., in Hannibal, Mo.
    The James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
    Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.
    Mrs. Ebel was born Nov. 19, 1933, in Villa Grove, Ill., to Harry R. and Holice W. Davis Shears.
    Survivors include two children, Allen C. Ebel (Miliss) of Quincy, Ill., Linda S. (Ebel) Rice of Hannibal, Mo., three grandchildren, Tara Moffitt (John) of Quincy, Ill., Anthony Ebel (Nicole) of Ottawa, Ill., Jason Rice of Hannibal, Mo., one great-grandchild, Kayla Walker of Quincy, Ill.
    She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother; Edward “Eddie” Shears.
    Mrs. Ebel previously worked as a registered nurse and supervisor at St. Mary’s Hospital in Quincy, Ill., and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Hannibal, Mo. She liked playing Bingo and enjoyed doing crafts and painting. Mrs. Ebel was an avid walker and loved to visit Lost Valley Lake Resort. She loved being with her family and grandkids. Mrs. Ebel attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Quincy, Ill., and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hannibal, Mo.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or North Adams Nursing Home in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
