  • Jeremiah (Jeremy) Preston, who had escaped capture Thursday, Oct. 17, during a Ralls County manhunt, was arrested Saturday by the Hannibal Police Department.
According to the HPD, Preston was located at about 9:22 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in the 200 block of South Fourth Street in Hannibal.
Preston, 29, of Hannibal, was taken into custody without incident, for multiple outstanding warrants.
The police said he was unable to post bond and remained in the Marion County Jail in Palmyra on Sunday.
A HPD report stated he was arrested on a parole violation and six state warrants.
On Thursday night and early Friday, Preston had been the subject of a manhunt by the Ralls County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff Gary Dinwiddie reported that during an attempt to arrest Preston for a Probation and Parole violation, Preston drove a vehicle into an officer's car, then fled from the scene.
The ensuing manhunt was near New London and involved involved vehicles, two helicopters and two police dogs. After Preston fled on foot and was not apprehended, Sheriff Dinwiddie had requested help from the public in locating him.
On Monday, Oct. 21, Dinwiddie expressed his appreciation for the assistance of the Hannibal police. "I'm glad they got him," he said. "Thanks to their excellent cooperation. It was working with other entities that made it possible to capture him so quick. We greatly appreciate their support and help in this matter."
Additional Ralls County charges are pending, Dinwiddie said, "for the incident involving the chase."
