A parish center is being built at 218 S. Maple Ave. in Hannibal. The two-level structure will feature 5,400 square feet.
The parish offices will be housed in the new building. In addition there will be ample space for meetings and funeral luncheons.
There will be a kitchenette, restrooms and storage space for parish records on the lower level. The upper level will have a banquet room with seating for 100 people, a full kitchen and restrooms.
“They’re pouring concrete on the upper level. We have an upper level floor, yeah!” said Janice Rupp of Holy Family Church.
“I expect they’re going to go ahead and do the structural framing on the outside so they can put the trusses on. I’m sure they are trying their best to get it under roof before bad weather hits,” said Rupp.
“We’re grateful that Bleigh has had a lot of guys down there on the job consistently. We’re just glad that they’re showing the dedication to get it under roof before the weather turns. Everybody needs to pray for good weather for the next few weeks so we can make it.”
The projected cost of the construction project is $1,047,000.
The money necessary to pay for the center has already been pledged by church members. The pledges were made over the past year during the “Living our Faith, Building our Vision” fund-raising campaign.
Projected date for completion
It is hoped that the new parish center will be ready for use by early 2014.
