  • The former city clerk of Curryville is accused of stealing almost $12,000 that residents paid for water, sewer and garbage bills.
Erin Comer, 33, is charged with felony theft. She’s accused of stealing $11,965.81 in cash from the city over a two-year period.
A Missouri Highway Patrol probable cause statement alleges that Comer pocketed cash that was paid for city bills. The document accuses her of accepting money from residents and marking the bills paid, but then not putting the correct amount on deposit ledgers.
A review of the ledgers and bank deposit statements led to the charge. The Curryville city clerk job is a hired position and voters do not fill it.
A counsel status hearing for Comer is set for Nov. 20.
