Hannibal's 65th Annual Mark Twain Marching Band Festival will be on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Area marching bands from Illinois and Missouri schools will converge on Hannibal for the festival. Twenty-eight high school and middle school bands will assemble at Dulaney Park for a two-hour parade starting at 3 p.m. and march down Broadway. Due to construction, the parade will not continue down Main Street, however, the Hannibal Band Boosters encourage everyone to visit the businesses along Main Street.
The evening field event will follow at 6 p.m. at Porter Stadium at Hannibal High School. The public is invited. Three schools will perform in parade formation and 13 schools will perform their field shows.
Missouri Military Academy Marching Band will play the National Anthem. Hannibal's Pirate Pride Marching Band will conclude the festival with its field show "The Phenomenon Of Cool" at approximately 8:15 p.m.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, candy, soda and bottled water will be available at the Band Boosters concession stand beginning at 5 p.m. evening of great music.
Joe Pappas from Festus, Mo., and Kurt D. Bauche, from Farmington, Mo., will provide recorded commentary for each group. Both judges have years of experience and adjudicate in several regional venues.
Admission for the evening show is $5 for adults $2 for students. Children 3 and under are free. People's Choice table will take donations in $1 amounts for Favorite Band.
