Two Louisiana, Mo., women were injured in a one-vehicle mishap involving a deer Tuesday evening in Pike County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident happened at 6:55 p.m. on Missouri 79 south of County Road 120.
A 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix was being driven south by 23-year-old Samantha I. Gentile of Louisiana. When Gentile swerved to avoid a deer the car traveled off the right side of the road where it struck an embankment and overturned. Gentile, who was not wearing a safety device, was ejected from the car. Her injuries were described as serious.
Also hurt was a passenger, 19-year-old Kimberly D. Davis of Louisiana, who also was not wearing a safety device. She sustained moderate injuries.
Both women were flown to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
