On Friday, Sept. 27, the Ralls County Sheriff's office in cooperation with Jake Moss, principal of Mark Twain Senior High School, conducted an unannounced sweep of high school property for narcotics and contraband.
At approximately 9 a.m. the school announced a code yellow lock down of all students and personnel on the school intercom. The school also notified all parents via their emergency notification system of the operation. During this time, with the assistance of K-9 law enforcement dogs from the Hannibal Police Department, Monroe City Police Department and Pike County Sheriff's Office, a search of school property was conducted. The search included all lockers, school bags and vehicles in the parking lot.
As a result of the K-9 search, no contraband or illegal narcotics were located.
Also assisting during the operation were members of the New London and Perry police departments.
