I took a trip to Las Vegas last weekend for my brother’s wedding.  It was a good weekend and I got to spend time with some of my family.  My brother and his new wife, Melissa got married on Saturday in a little chapel in Vegas.  It was a sweet ceremony.

I know there are a million pictures I could have posted with this entry, the lights, the casinos, the people, flying over the grand canyon, but this ceiling, oh this ceiling is my favorite ceiling in the whole wide world!  It’s in the lobby of the Bellagio hotel and I could sit and look at it for hours.  It’s called Fiori di Coma and it is made up of 2,000 hand-blown glass blossoms.  It makes me think of the sea when I look at it.  The Bellagio also has a conservatory and botanical gardens.  It’s a big room with skylights in the ceiling to let the sunlight in and it is decorated with the most beautiful flowers and they change it with the seasons.  I have seen it in May, with all the spring/summer flowers and now I have seen it in the fall with big pumpkins and mums, scarecrows and a talking tree!

We also went to Freemont Street on this trip, which is the “original” Vegas.  If you have ever watched a movie that was shot in Vegas, they always show the picture of the big cowboy and he is on Freemont Street.  The casinos here pay out in quarters like the old days.  The newer ones give you a voucher and you take it and cash it in.  Not that I am a big gambler by any means.  I just can’t let my money go like that!  But we did see some high rollers!  I gave my dad a hard time when we got to Freemont Street and asked him if it was where Clark Griswald went on National Lampoon’s Vacation and he went in the casino and went up to a table to gamble and they asked him to pick a number between 1 and 5!  He didn’t think that was as funny as I did.

We finished out the last night watching the fountains at the Bellagio.  This is quite a production and the fountains danced to “Luck be a lady tonight” by Frank Sinatra.  It was beautiful!  And as a side note…if you want to watch the fountains, you can find it on You tube!

Overall I had a good weekend.  I got to see my brother say “I do” to his beautiful bride and to see their smiling faces was worth the trip!
