  • An accident involving two tractor-trailers that required U.S. 36 to be closed for a time Tuesday left a Marceline man with moderate injuries.

  • An accident involving two tractor-trailers that required U.S. 36 to be closed for a time Tuesday left a Marceline man with moderate injuries.
    According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the crash happened at 11:50 a.m. on westbound U.S. 36 one mile east of Hunnewell.
    A 2005 Freightliner tractor-trailer was being driven west by 48-year-old Robert A. Dorrell of Marceline. It truck the rear of a westbound 2005 Volvo Conventional tractor-trailer operated by 46-year-old Jerrod C. Porter of Hunnewell.
    After the collision the Freightliner caught fire and went into the median.
    For a time MoDOT closed both westbound lanes of the highway. By approximately 3:30 p.m. one lane had reopened. Both lanes were open around 4 p.m.
    Dorrell was transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
