  • The project
A parish center is being built at 218 S. Maple Ave. in Hannibal. The two-level structure will feature 5,400 square feet.
The parish offices will be housed in the new building. In addition there will be ample space for meetings and funeral luncheons.
There will be a kitchenette, restrooms and storage space for parish records on the lower level. The upper level will have a banquet room with seating for 100 people, a full kitchen and restrooms.
    What’s
    happening
“They have made progress,” said Janice Rupp of Holy Family Church. “I greatly admire Bleigh’s professionalism for being willing to keep on working even though it’s been so hot. They’ve done a really good job.
“I was down there yesterday (Wednesday) and they were up there tying the rebar in and not thinking a thing about it (heat). Down in that hole you don’t get any breeze.”
    What’s next
“They’ve got one more foundation wall to pour,” said Rupp.

    Anticipated cost
The projected cost of the construction project is $1,047,000.
    Who’s paying
The money necessary to pay for the center has already been pledged by church members. The pledges were made over the past year during the “Living our Faith, Building our Vision” fund-raising campaign.
    Projected date for completion
It is hoped that the new parish center will be ready for use by early 2014.
Each week, the Courier-Post is documenting the improvements taking place on the parish center. For more information, contact:
