  • With week one in the Clarence Cannon Conference in the books, five teams are tied for first with a 1-0 record while five teams are tied for last with an 0-1 record. Palmyra, Brookfield, Centralia, South Shelby, and Clark County all won its season openers.
    Two CCC teams won via shutout, Centralia routed Highland 55-0 while Brookfield blanked Mark Twain by a score of 35-0. Mark Twain has now lost seven straight games dating back to last season.
    Last year’s CCC champion Clark County beat Monroe City 41-25 at home while Palmyra beat Macon 36-25 on the road. Finally, South Shelby came from behind to beat Louisiana 23-20.
    This week, Palmyra and Monroe City will be holding home openers. The Panthers of Palmyra will host Centralia while Monroe City will have a battle of winless teams as the Panthers of Monroe City (0-1) welcome the Mark Twain Tigers (0-1).
    Macon (0-1) and Louisiana (0-1) will both hold home openers this week. South Shelby (1-0) will travel to play Macon while Clark County (1-0) will travel to Louisiana (0-1) to play the Bulldogs. Highland will also be playing at home this week as the Cougars will face off against Brookfield.
