  • Son shot, father charged with 2nd degree murder

  • A Pike County, Mo., man is dead from a gunshot wound, and his father is in the custody of the Pike County Sheriff’s Department.
    Sheriff Stephen Korte reports his office received a call at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, regarding a shooting on Pike 52.
    Jeff Chisholm, 22 of St John, Mo., was pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Coroner, Jim Turner.
    Michael Lee Phillips, 45, of St John, Mo., the father of Jeff Chisholm, has been charged by Pike County Prosecutor Mark Fisher with the class A felony of murder in the second degree and with armed criminal action.  Bond was set at $200,000 cash only by Judge David Ash.
    Based in information included in a probable cause statement submitted by Pike County Sheriff’s Deputies, Chisholm had been in both verbal and physical altercations with Phillips and other family members.  Phillips also claims to have fired a warning shot at Chisholm.
    Phillips being held in the Pike County Jail pending the posting of bond.
