The Mark Twain softball team opened its season with a win Wednesday night, beating Wellsville-Middletown 12-0.
Senior hurler Mackenzie Grossmann did not allow anyone to reach base as she threw a perfect game while striking out nine.
Offensively, Mark Twain pounded out 15 hits. Alicia Cole and Taylor Picton were both 2-for-3 with three runs driven in. Kaelee Ogle and Victoria Thompson were also 2-for-3 at the plate. Both Ogle and Thompson had a double, a triple and scored three runs.
Chloe Majors was 2-for-4 and Grossmann was 1-for 2 with two RBIs and a double.
The Lady Tigers scored three runs in the first inning before adding single runs in the second and third. Mark Twain (1-0) sealed the win with a seven run outburst in the fourth inning.
The Lady Tigers will play their first road game this afternoon as Mark Twain travels to Bowling Green for a varsity only game. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
