John “Stuts” Stutsman, 79, of Palmyra, Mo., died at 2:07 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, at his home.

John “Stuts” Stutsman, 79, of Palmyra, Mo., died at 2:07 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services with military rites by Emmette J Shields American Legion Post 55 will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Mo. Brother Gregg Koelliker will officiate.  
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Stutsman was born December 31, 1933, in Edina, Missouri, to Albert and Zentalane Allen Stutsman.
He was previously married to Elaine Hirsch in August of 1954, and she survives.
Survivors include four children, Richard Stutsman of Hannibal, Mo., Pamela Ludwig (Bob) of Quincy, Ill., Yvonne Pealer (Stan) of St. Louis, Mo., and Art Stutsman (Penny) of Powderly, Texas; his grandchildren, Tara Evans, Cassie Roeder, Joey Stutsman, Matt Stutsman, Eric East, Cody Cook, James Lee Garner, Jan Donavant, Stefhanie Lautenschlagher, Ashley Dover, Austin Stutsman, Ashtin Stutsman, Jimmie Sherwood and Justin Russell; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; niece, Tina Pape; nephew, Keith Manyx; and great-nephews, Brian Manyx and Austin Pape.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; Calup Cyle Cook; and one sister, Sally Jean Pape.
Mr. Stutsman was a United States Air Force veteran. He was previously a girls softball coach at Quincy University in Quincy, Ill., and Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo., and currently at John Woods Community College in Quincy. John was very passionate about softball and cared greatly about his players. He also liked playing basketball and loved spending time with his family.
Memorial contributions may be made to John Woods Community College for Girls Softball, in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eric East, James Lee Garner Jr., Cody Cook, Joey Stutsman, Matt Stutsman, Austin Stutsman, and Mr. Stutsman’s great-grandchildren.
