  • Spike and Theresa Ehrhardt of 4212 West Ely Road, Hannibal, Mo., will be honored for their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner hosted by their children and spouses. A special Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 24, celebrated by Father Mike Quinn and Deacon Troy Egbert, where their marriage will be blessed.

  • Spike and Theresa Ehrhardt of 4212 West Ely Road, Hannibal, Mo., will be honored for their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner hosted by their children and spouses. A special Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 24, celebrated by Father Mike Quinn and Deacon Troy Egbert, where their marriage will be blessed.
    Theresa is a daughter of the late Oliver (Buck) and Agnes (Dieker) Wiewel. Mr. Ehrhardt is the son of the late Edward and Stella (Klingele) Ehrhardt.
    They were married in Quincy, Ill., at the St. Boniface Catholic Church on Aug. 24, 1963, by the Rev. Monsignor Peter Masterson. Their attendants were Phyllis Metzger, maid of honor, sister of the bride; Roger Boone, best man, brother-in-law of the groom; bridesmaids, Betty McCoy, sister of the bride, and Rita Lentz and Rosalyn Boone, sisters of the groom.
    Groomsmen were Floyd Wiewel and Dale Wiewel, brothers of the bride, and Roy Hummelshiem, friend of the groom. Ushers were Dick, Larry, Eddie and Mike Wiewel, brothers of the bride.
    Spike was manager of the Sandy’s Drive In on 12th and Jefferson and Theresa worked at Moorman Manufacturing Company. After living in Quincy for a year, Spike opened the Sandy’s in Hannibal, Missouri, in May 1965, and they moved to Hannibal with their first son Steve, who was 5 months old. Later, after opening two more stores in Hannibal and several others in the surrounding cities,  in 1997 he sold 60 stores which had been converted to Hardee’s in 1972, back to the company. In 1988, he opened his first motel, a Super 8 in Macon, Missouri. Presently Spike along with his sons and son-in-law operate two Hardee’s and 20 hotels in Illinois and Missouri under the name Ehrhardt Properties. Spike, Steve and partner Jeff Hartmann operate five hotels in Oklahoma under the name of SJS Hospitality. Spike celebrated 50 years of being in the restaurant business in 2010. He has always been very active in the Hannibal community, serving on the F&M Bank board, Kiwanis Club and Knights of Columbus. He has attended and recruited men to go on the White House Retreat in St. Louis every year for the last 45 years.
    They are parents of seven children, Steve (Donna) Ehrhardt, Lebanon; Stan (Heather) Ehrhardt, Moberly; Scott (Heather) Ehrhardt, Hannibal; Shawn (Julie) Ehrhardt, Hannibal; Sherri (Kevin) Wiley, Hannibal; Sarah (Christopher) Johnson, Chicago, Ill.; and Stacey (Tom) Koenigsfeld, Cincinnati, Ohio.
    They are blessed with 10 (plus two coming this fall) grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
    Theresa works part time at Ehrhardt Properties. She is a member of the CCW Ladies Organization at Holy Family. She has a Bible study that meets at her home every Wednesday morning. She enjoys cards, flowers and watching her grandchildren.
    They are members of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Cursillo movement in Quincy. They enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and attending their sports activities. They enjoy being with their friends, playing cards. They belong to two different card groups, bridge and euchre.
