Seven Bowling Green residents, including five children 7 years old and younger, were injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident late Thursday afternoon in Pike County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident happened at 5:50 p.m. on westbound U.S. 54 at County Road 459.
The mishap reportedly happened when a 1997 Dodge Ram, driven by 54-year-old Gregory L. Luebrecht of Curryville was attempting to turn right and was struck in the rear by a 1996 Ford Explorer operated by 29-year-old Johnny L. Chapman of Bowling Green.
All the occupants of the Ford sustained minor injuries. In addition to Chapman, also hurt were 28-year-old Amber N. Heck, 7-year-old Jenny M. Heck-Crockett, 6-year-old Austin D. Heck-Crockett, 5-year-old Lavonte J. Heck, 5-year-old Jason C. Chapman and 4-year-old Dustin L. Heck-Crockett. All but Lavonte J. Heck and Jenny M. Heck-Crockett were wearing safety devices.
All the injured were taken by ambulance to Pike County Memorial Hospital.
