  • Harold Robert (Robie) Dietle, 77, of Frankford, Mo., passed away Tuesday morning, July 30, 2013, at the University of Missouri – Columbia Medical Center from complications following cardiac surgery.

  • Harold Robert (Robie) Dietle, 77, of Frankford, Mo., passed away Tuesday morning, July 30, 2013, at the University of Missouri – Columbia Medical Center from complications following cardiac surgery.
    Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 2, at the Frankford First Christian Church. Gail Aurand, pastor, will officiate. Alma Benn of Frankford and Tom Williams of Bowling Green will provide music for the services. Soloist will be granddaughter Katherine Bourne of Visalia, California. American Legion Post 370 Memorial Squad will provide military rites.
    Dietle was born October 21, 1935, in Palmyra to John Albert Thomas Dietle and Ofeleita Pansy Austin Dietle.
    He was married to Wanda Sue Gibbs Dietle of New London on December 15, 1956. To this union were born four children, Julie Anne (Roger) Colbert of Frankford; Robert Lee (Ferrel Rose) Dietle of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Carla Rae (Andre) Khal of Tulare, California; and Everett Austin Dietle of St. Louis. Grandchildren include Robert Caleb (Lindsey) Colbert, Columbia; Jacob Roger Colbert, Decatur, Ill.; Ethan Andrew Colbert, Columbia; Katherine Renae Bourne, Mary Elizabeth Bourne, Visalia, California; Noah Abraham Khal, Tulare, California; Annette Khal, Boise, Idaho; Michelle Khal, San Luis Obispo, California; Brigitte Khal, Fresno California; and Samuel Tecumseh Dietle, Bowling Green, Kentucky.
    After serving in the U.S. Navy, Dietle worked at Hercules for seven years. Afterwards he served for 28 years as a Frankford rural mail carrier. Additionally Dietle owned and operated a full service gas station in Frankford.
    After retiring from the postal service, Dietle began a public service career as Pike County Western District Commissioner from 1993 to 2001. He was a 58-year member of the Frankford First Christian Church, where for many years he served as a Sunday school superintendant and elder. He was also an Awana teacher.
    In addition, Dietle was a 19-year member of the American Legion Post 370 where he served as post commander and served on the Memorial  Squad. He was also a member of the VFW Post 5553 and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge Number 457 of Frankford. He supported his children’s interests and activities by being a 4-H leader, a BSA Scoutmaster, and Khoury League coach. He was an avid hunter, bowler, and spent many hours reading. He recalled, as a child, being the last passenger on the Shortline railroad through Frankford as the tracks were being removed.
    Surviving him is his wife of 56 years, children, grandchildren and brothers, Albert Dewayne (Betty) Dietle of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Roy Gene (Ann) Dietle of Hannibal; Richard Dale (Carolyn) Dietle of New London; and sisters, Shirley Ruth Dierling and Linda Rose Ellis of Frankford; sister-in-laws Barbara Dietle, Hannibal; Juanita Dietle, Jefferson City; Thelma Gibbs, New London; in-laws Dorn and Linda Foglesong, New London, and a host of nieces and nephews.
    Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Earl Dean Dietle and Donald Lee Dietle; and one sister, Doris Marie Roberts; brothers-in-law, Harry McCune Roberts, Olin Eugene Dierling and Ray Gibbs; and father and mother-in-law Everett and Marie Gibbs; in addition, a niece, Dawn Karen Dietle and two nephews, Brian Andrew Dietle and Richard Scott Dietle.
    Page 2 of 2 - Private interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Frankford First Christian Church or Gideons International.
    Mudd-Veach Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
