  • Thomas Edward Hayes, 83, of Perry, Mo., died at 10:14 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

  • Thomas Edward Hayes, 83, of Perry, Mo., died at 10:14 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
    A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at St. William's Catholic Church in Perry, Mo. Burial will be at St. Paul's Cemetery in rural Center, Mo. Father John Henderson will officiate.
    Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at St. William's Catholic Church with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m.
    Arrangements are under the direction of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home of Hannibal, Mo.
    Thomas was born on August 14, 1929, to Maurice and Mable Ronchetta Hayes at the St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Hannibal, Mo.
    He was married to Velda Faye Woodford on March 1, 1954. She survives.
    Also surviving are four children, Donna Griffin (Mark) of Frankford, Mo., Dolores Gerdemann (Larry) of Hannibal, Mo., Tommy Hayes (Patti) of Hannibal, Mo., and Vanessa Newbrough (Alan) of Mexico, Mo.; one brother, Joseph W. Hayes of Waynesville, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Day, Ashley Ebbing, Eddie Lennox, Belinda Lennox, Holly Evanoff, Heather Dillon and Michael Terry; nine great-grandchildren, Garrett Day, Hayden Jones, Elexis Ebbing, Laykin Ebbing, Skylar Lennox, Emily Lennox, Faith Hayes, Tricia Evanoff and Steven Thomas Evanoff; and many nieces and nephews.
    Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Hugh F. Hayes, Donald E. Hayes and Charles Robert Hayes.
    Tom worked for Harold Moore Feed Company in Perry, Mo., as a truck driver and later was a mechanic at Jack White Chevrolet/Dean Poage Chevrolet in Perry, Mo. Tom and Velda ran Hayes Garage from that location from 1969 until he retired in 1993. Tom and Velda enjoyed going to Country Western dances with friends. He was an avid coon hunter in his younger days, but continued to enjoy all hunting and fishing later in life. He enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and spending time with his family. One of his favorite things was hosting fish fries for family and friends. He was a member of St. William's Catholic Church in Perry, Mo.
    Memorials may be made to the St. Paul's Cemetery Association, in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home or to the donor's choice.
    Pallbearers will be Robby Evanoff, Tommy Day, Darin Ebbing, Eddie Lennox, Skylar Lennox and Preston Dillon.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Carmen, Jack Spegal, Russell Beaty, Larry Hayes, Joe Hayes, David Peer, Johnny Krigbaum, Gary Hayes and Dean Poage.
