The Lewis County Sheriff’s Department in Monticello, Mo., reported a child was injured in a farm accident on Friday, July 26.
The sheriff’s department provided the following report: Officers were called to 25648 157th Street, Monticello, on Friday, in response to a report of a 12-year-old child being thrown from a hay cutter.
Chief Deputy Robert Power reported after an investigation he learned that Sam Elchor, 12, had been operating a hay cutter being pulled by a team of horses. He accidentally fell off the hay cutter and was run over by one of the wheels.
The child was taken by ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
The sheriff’s department was assisted by the Canton Fire Protection District.
