James Edwin “Bubba” Powell, 66, of New London, Mo., died at 9:42 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services with Full Military Honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2013 from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Powell was born April 14, 1947, in Hannibal, Mo., to James M. and Mary Jo Maple Powell.
He was married to Jean Ann Thomas in 1971 in Hannibal, Mo. She preceded him in death June 16, 2013.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Lori Kealen (Ted) of New London, Mo.; 1 son, Dennis Powell of Hannibal, Mo.; 1 step son, Shayne Black of Springfield, Mo.; 3 brothers, Jimbo Powell (Libby), Larry Powell (Jackie), and Tony Denney all of Hannibal, Mo.; 3 sisters; Terri Jo Maple of Hannibal, Mo., Carol Powell of Monroe City, Mo., and Kathy Sanders (Terry) of New London, Mo.; 7 grandchildren, Lacey Powell, Samantha Sue Powell, Bailey Ann Powell, Alicia Powell, Lindy Powell, Kasie Powell and Dennis Powell II; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Powell was a United States Army Veteran having served during Vietnam. He worked as a truck driver for many years and retired from Sunrise Trucking in New London, Missouri, earlier this year. Mr. Powell enjoyed fishing, camping and boating and his remote control airplanes. He loved spending time with his family.
