Two people were hurt in a traffic crash early Monday morning in Lincoln County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident happened at 1 a.m. on Missouri 79, north of Route C.
A 1994 Mazda Protege was being driven north on Missouri 79 by 34-year-old Lee W. Gutmann of Elsberry. A 1982 Ford Econoline, operated by Mark A. Benge, 52, of Quincy, Ill., was parked on the shoulder. The collision happened when Gutmann reportedly fell asleep and the Protege went onto the shoulder and struck the Ford.
Gutmann sustained moderate injuries while Benge’s injuries were minor. Gutmann was not wearing a safety device while Benge was. Both men were taken by ambulance to St. Joseph West Hospital.
