Four people were injured in a two-vehicle mishap Thursday afternoon in Marion County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the crash happened at 3:55 p.m. on U.S. 36 at Route H, approximately six miles west of Hannibal.
A 2008 Toyota Highlander, operated by 50-year-old Jerry Toops of Revere, and a 2005 Dodge, driven by 61-year-old Willis J. Bryant of Geneseo, Ill., were stopped at U.S. 36 and Route H.
The accident reportedly happened when the Highlander went around the Dodge and attempted to cross U.S. 36. In so doing it was struck by a 2004 Kenworth driven by 46-year-old John L. Muehring of New London.
The Kenworth came to rest in the median on its side while the Highlander went off the south side of the road.
Suffering moderate injuries were Jerry Toops and 45-year-old Lisa A. Toops of Revere. Another passenger in the Highlander, 12-year-old Tanner J. Toops, sustained minor injuries. Muehring also was left with minor injuries.
All those injured were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
Jerry, Lisa and Tanner Toops were taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital by Marion County Ambulance. A private vehicle transported Muehring to HRH.
