A summer maintenance report was provided members of the Palmyra R-1 Board of Education during its meeting Tuesday.
Superintendent Eric Churchwell reported that the middle school roofing project is approximately 40 percent complete and on schedule. The Agriculture Education building exterior painting project is complete. The house demolition/parking lot addition north of the middle school is on schedule. Asphalt sealing at Palmyra Elementary school, high school gym roof, and football field bleacher repair projects have yet to be started, but should begin very soon.
In other business:
• A bid from Lovegreen Ford of $23,010 for a new Ford F-350, 4x4 maintenance truck, was accepted.
• The bid from Knapheide Manufacturing of $11,082 for a utility truck bed and 7.5-foot snow plow for the maintenance truck was accepted.
• The board approved the lease purchase agreement with L.J. Hart Inc. for a 2013 Thomas 65-passenger school bus.
• Quincy Medical Group was approved to provide occupational therapy services for the district for the 2013-14 school year.
• A change order was approved for the demolition/parking lot project in the amount of $9,876 from Heimer Construction to demolish existing sidewalk and add a double entry/exit at the parking lot north of the middle school.
• The board heard a request from Missy and Todd Kizer to allow student athletes to participate in dual sports in the same sports season. No action was taken.
• The annual tax rate hearing was scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13.
• The 2013-14 free and reduced lunch application forms were approved.
• The annual School Board Picnic date was set for Tuesday, Aug. 27, beginning at 6 p.m.
• The board will host a new teacher reception at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.13, in the high school library.
• The resignation was accepted from Becky Simington, high school communication arts, poms coach.
