This weekend, it is all about celebrating Independence Day in style! Stick around town and enjoy 3 days of family fun!

Thursday, July 4th
Firecracker 5K Run/1K Walk
8 am, Dukum Inn
Registration for this run starts at 7 am, so if you haven’t preregistered, arrive early. All proceeds benefit the The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri so if you’re a regular runner- do this one for a good cause.

Red White & Blue Parade
9 am, Downtown Kirksville
The parade is on, rain or shine, so grab your sunglasses or your galoshes on Thursday morning! Bring a lawn chair and find the perfect spot to see the float, fire trucks, and fancy cars parade down Franklin Street.

Splash Bash
1-4 pm, Kirksville Aquatic Center
Reduced admission and FREE strawberry floats are perfect reasons to spend a hot summer afternoon, soaking up the sun or splashing around at the pool.

Fireworks (Rain date Friday, July 5th)
9:30 pm/Dusk, Kirksville Country Club 
This is what it is all about! The big fireworks display will take place from the Kirksville Country Club, so find parking at any business on the south end of town. Tune your radio to 107.9 FM. Bott Radio Network will be providing patriotic music to accompany the fireworks display.

July 5th: 
Kirksville Community Band Performance and Veteran’s Tribute
5-6 pm, Courthouse Lawn
Listen to the patriotic music performed by the Kirksville Community Band and salute the veterans who have served our country. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the show.

Pie Auction and Apple Pie Contest
6 pm, Courthouse Lawn
Stick around after the performance and place your bid on an award winning apple pie. All proceeds go to the Red Cross so be ready to ante up for a delicious dessert!

Apple Pie and Ice Cream Sales
5-7 pm, Courthouse Lawn
If you just cannot wait until you get home to take a bite of your delectable pie, Kirksville Young Professionals will be downtown selling slices of pie donated by Colton’s Steakhouse and vanilla ice cream donated by Century 21 Whitney Agency. Look for the blue Visit Kirksville tent!

Summer on the Square Concert- Mystery Train
7 pm, Courthouse Lawn
Rounding out the evening is the regularly scheduled Summer on the Square Concert. This performance by Mystery Train is sponsored by the Chariton Valley Association. As usual, the concert is free to all.

July 6th:
Joint Service Club Pancake Breakfast-
7-11 am, Downtown Cinema 8 Parking Lot
Don’t bother making breakfast on Saturday morning- the best plate of pancakes in town can be found downtown, served up with a smile from the Kirksville Service Clubs. Volunteers get together every year to pull this community meal together and it never fails to please.

Kirksville Kiwanis Farmers Market
7 am-Noon, Elson Street Downtown
The Kiwanis Farmers Market will be hosted downtown as usual and if you don’t fill up on pancakes you can purchase baked goods, fresh produce, and other tasty treats. The 2013 Kirksville Leadership Institute Participants will be selling cookies and giving away cookies to fundraise for their service project this year- a trailhead for the FLATS project.

Hilliest FLATS Ride Ever
7:30 -11 am, Parking lot south of Wooden Nickel
If you love to bike and if you love FLATS, don’t miss this ride that begins downtown. All proceeds go to the FLATS project, so pedal around for a good cause!

Cemetery Theatre
5:30-7:30 pm, Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery
Enjoy performances from historical Kirksville citizens come to life at this annual theatric event. 7 stories will be shared this year. One is a brand new script- Orie J. Smith, the builder of the Round Barn which celebrates its 100th
