Leslie “Buddy” Phelps, 63, of Hannibal, Missouri, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Jim Woychuk will officiate.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Salem Cemetery in rural Center, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the time of services Monday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Leslie was born December 18, 1949, in Frankford, Mo., to Claude W. and Mildred F. Jones Phelps.
Survivors include two brothers, Larry Phelps and Terry Phelps, both of New London, Mo.; one sister, Katherine Heaton of Vandalia, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and other family members that lived in the home with Buddy including, Joyce, Mark and Norman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sharon Lent. There is also one brother, Billy W. Phelps, and his whereabouts is unknown.
Mr. Phelps loved food and liked listening to old gospel music. He enjoyed watching old westerns, especially, John Wayne and Gunsmoke. He also liked watching game shows, including Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Buddy loved visiting with his family and friends and liked to write and receive letters. He was a member of Tabernacle of Praise Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
