  • Mother Nature provided dry skies for the Hannibal High School Class of 2013 senior banquet and cruise on Friday, May 17, after a light spattering of rain had fallen earlier that afternoon.
The graduating seniors had one additional ride on a school bus, as they were transported to the temporary boat docking area of the Mark Twain Riverboat for their banquet and cruise.
With Hannibal’s five flood gates in place until the Mississippi River recedes, the riverboat has been relocated just north of the flood wall, where it has continued its regular cruises.
Parking is available for boat passengers, but the Class of 2013 arrived on buses to avoid traffic problems with so many arrivals.
On Friday, the HHS class was to take its regular cruise, according to riverboat owner, Capt. Steve Terry. He was coordinating the arrival of the school buses of students, along with HHS Principal Ryan Sharkey.
Some parents came to watch the boat depart and take pictures, mostly by walking a few blocks from the end of North Main Street.
Graduation for the Class of 2013 will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, after their baccalaureate service the previous day. Their honor awards will be presented on Wednesday, May 21.
Friday, May 24, is the last day of the Hannibal Public School’s 2012-2013 year.
