Planting at the first community garden will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 18.
Volunteers constructed and filled raised beds. A walkway has been built and a flower and herb garden prepared. Plants and seeds have been purchased and some donated from Sutherlands and other sources.
Jessie Dryden is a volunteer activist who is partnering with the Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department on the community garden project. The site is part of the flood buyout property and is located at 322 S. Eighth St., across the street from the Street Department headquarters.
