  • Daniel Joseph Hammock, 66, of Hannibal, Missouri, died at 12:07 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.
    Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at Bell Cemetery in Ethel, Missouri. The Rev. Randy Bergphold will officiate.  
    Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
    Mr. Hammock was born October 21, 1946, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Elmer Curtis and Lillian Lorraine Hoffman Hammock.
    He was married to Beverly Jean Grable on February 4, 1969, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.
    Other survivors include three children, Dana Hammock of Hannibal, Mo., Robby Hammock of Liberty Ill., and Cody Hammock of St. Louis, Mo.; three brothers, Curtis Wayne Hammock, Robert Kent Hammock and James Edward Hammock; four grandchildren, Ashley, Ethan, Danielle and Melanie; and one great-grandchild, Parker Anthony; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents.
    Mr. Hammock was a United States Navy veteran. He served two terms of duty from January 18, 1966, to January 18, 1969, and then in the Reserves from 1969 to 1972 during the Vietnam War as a 3rd Class Petty Officer. He was a Seabee member of the United States Navy Construction Battalion (CB).
    Mr. Hammock worked as a tool and die maker. He loved to build and draw. Daniel was also a talented wood worker and leather worker and liked to create wood burnings. He enjoyed being outdoors, caring for his animals and hunting. He was a Baptist by faith.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
