Irene L. Gottman, 90, of Taylor, Missouri, the youngest daughter of Severt and Josephine Steen Uglum, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, passing away at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Irene was born September 29, 1922, in Stoughton, Wisconsin. She was married to Charles M. Gottman March 4, 1961, in Palmyra, Missouri. He survives of the home.
Irene was a wonderful mother to seven children: Mrs. Betty (Paul) White of Palmyra; Mrs. Gloria (Dean) Drebes of Palmyra; Donald (Kay) Daniel of Phoenix, AZ; twins, John (Denise) Daniel of Liberty, MO, Jim (Cecelia) Daniel of Cincinnati, OH; Rick (Susan) Gottman of Palmyra; Kevin (Dr. Gayle) Gottman of Quincy; 29 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 10 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her nine siblings.
Mrs. Gottman was a devoted farm wife who enjoyed embroidering and crocheting. She worked many years at “Hutch’s” Truck Stop in Palmyra.
Irene was a beautifully patient woman who loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra, Mo. Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
