The Hannibal golf team continued its season-long success Monday when the Pirates won the district championship in Moberly.

As a team, The Pirates carded a 310 to claim first place and guarantee the entire Pirates’ varsity golf squad will move on to sectional play in one week. Runner up Marshall, who also qualified as a team for sectionals, finished 23 strokes behind Hannibal with a 333.

The Pirate golfers were led by Alec Abel on the links. Abel finished with the lowest round of the day, a 73. By doing so, Abel won medalist honors.

Charlie Baumann carded a 78 while Jack Baumann turned in a 79. Scott Cockrell rounded out the Pirates’ top four finishers with an 80.

As for the rest of the teams, Moberly took third with a 343 while Mexico was fourth at 348. Fulton rounded out the top five with a score of 350. Kirksville (355), Helias (362), Boonville (401), Missouri Military Academy (419) and Osage (424) finished in the back half of the top 10 with Eldon coming in 11th with a 436.

The top 15 finishing individuals earned All District honors. Claiming the honor for Hannibal was Abel, Charlie Baumann (finished fifth), Jack Baumann (sixth), and Cockrell (eighth). Also earning the honor was Brett Windsor, Science Seifert, Justin Vann, Alex Maupin, Kory Masek, Josh King, Brock Lunceford, Bryan Mach, Cole Perkins, Tyler Howerton, and Daniel Collier.
