The Hannibal girls’ soccer team extended its North Central Missouri Conference scoreless streak to 11 games Monday night when the Lady Pirates shutout Fulton 5-0.

Hannibal took the lead 15 minutes into the game when senior Theresa Sheffer put the Lady Pirates up 1-0 with an assist from Meghan Grimes.

Late in the first half, Hannibal extended its lead to 2-0 when Jordan Lee scored a goal off a Sheffer corner kick. Lee’s goal came with just two minutes remaining in the first half.

The two teams went into the halftime break with Hannibal up 2-0.

Sheffer continued her hot play in the second half as she put Hannibal up 3-0 with an assist from Raylynn Charlton just five minutes into the half.

Paige Utterback and Katherine Allen joined the scoring parade late in the second half. Utterback  found the back of Fulton’s net with 14 minutes left in the game to put Hannibal up 4-0 while Allen added a goal of her own to make it 5-0 just four minutes later.

Lady Pirates’ goal keeper Kaitlyn Edge extended her single season school record for shutouts to 13 1/2 while Hannibal extended its school record of shutouts to 14.

In junior varsity action, the Lady Pirates once again finished early. With 18 minutes left in the game, Hannibal’s JV squad scored its 10th goal of the game to beat Fulton 10-0 via the mercy rule. The Lady Pirates’ jv squad has now beaten the Fulton jv squad by mercy rule in both meetings this year.

Witht the win, Hannibal tied the school record for wins (15) in a single season and the Lady Pirates are guaranteed at least a share of the NCMC title. Next up for the Lady Pirates is Quincy Notre Dame. Hannibal will host the Lady Raiders tonight at Porter Stadium. The JV game begins at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
