Vernon Dallas Howard Sr., 87 of Boonville, formerly of Marshall, passed away Sunday morning, April 28, at Riverdell Care Center in Boonville.
Vernon’s wishes was to be cremated with no services at this time.
Vernon Dallas Howard was born March 15, 1926, in Chariton County, MO., the son of Benjamin Franklin Howard and Mary Matilda Baldridge Howard. Vernon married Leona Fern O’Dell in Olathe, KS on September 18, 1943. They were the parents of five children. Mr. Howard served his country in World War II and was a proud veteran. After he returned from the Army he logged a lot miles as a truck driver. He retired in 1988 from Standard Havens Structural Steel Division in Glasgow.
Mr. Howard spent most of his life in Chariton and Howard counties. In his spare time he loved to fish and keep family genealogy. Family was the most important thing to him, that showed in his love for them.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Linda Howard and Sandra Williams; and numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children; Lorna Jo Howard and Ona Beadle of Hannibal, MO, Vernon Dallas Howard, Jr. and wife Florence of New Franklin, MO and Nancy Woods and husband Jim of Osceola, IA.; as well as six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
