The Hannibal boys’ tennis team won again Wednesday afternoon as the Pirates traveled to Mexico and shutout Missouri Military Academy 9-0.

The Pirates’ top two singles teams did not allow their opponents to score any points against them. Dhaval Katbamna won the No. 1 singles match 10-0 while Daniel Fohey did the same in the No. 2 singles match.

In the No. 3 and No. 6 singles matches, Jacob Hammock and Austin Haynes each won their matches by scores of 10-2 while Blake Hosley won the No. 4 singles match 10-3.

Hannibal’s final singles match was played by Brett Hinton who won the No. 5 singles match by the closest score of the night, 10-7.

In doubles, Hannibal won all three matches by indentical scores of 10-1. The Pirates’ No. 1 doubles team was Fohey and Hosley while the No. 2 doubles team was Hammock and Hinton. Playing as the No. 3 doubles team was Lijah Harrison and Brad Curl.

Next up for Hannibal will be back to back home matches over the next two days. The Pirates will host NCMC rival Marshall in a makeup game that was originally scheduled for March 23 this afternoon. Tomorrow, Hannibal will host Columbia Hickman. Both matches will start at 4 p.m. at the Hannibal High School tennis courts. Hannibal is now 16-2 on the season.

“Marshall is a big conference match as far as preparing for the conference match and seeding,” Hannibal coach Jay Johnson said. “We have a bunch of tough teams coming up here in a row.”
