Judge Chris Kunza Mennemeyer is out and Judge Ben Burkemper is in as the presiding judge in the Rebecca Kirk case.
Updated court records indicate the assignment was made official last week on April 17.
Burkemper is an associate judge out of Lincoln County in the 45 Judicial Circuit. He will make trips from the county courthouse in Troy to the Pike County Courthouse in Bowling Green to preside over Kirk's case.
Because Kirk has a new judge, that means a new trial has to be scheduled.
Her July trial was cancelled because it was scheduled under Kunza Mennemeyer.
Now that Burkemper is taking the case over, a case review is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, May 6. In short terms, that's basically a meeting with the judge to update him on the case and see where things stand.
It is not known if Kirk is required to appear in court for this review. She was not present for her request to change judges.
