The HLGU Nursing Department is preparing to send 13 nursing students and instructors to Cercadillo in the Dominican Republic to minister to the people. While there, the team will be sharing health promotion and first aid information, as well as providing health screenings for children.
As a fund-raiser, the HLGU Nursing Department will be holding a yard sale to purchase supplies for their trip. The public is invited to donate items for the yard sale.
The team is also collecting these items to give to the people: flip-flops of all sizes; sewing thread; sewing machine needles; soap; lotion; children’s underwear; children’s socks; children’s under shirts; simple backpacks (no wheels, etc.); black tennis shoes in children/youth sizes; spoons; bowls/plates; and toothbrushes/toothpaste.
The yard sale will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in the parking lot of the Roland Fine Arts Center on the HLGU campus. Donations will be accepted at the Nursing Department until Thursday, April 25.
If needed, arrangements can be made for items to be picked up. For information contact Kim Erskine at (573) 629-3149 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org .
