  • Phillip Wayne Conner, 64, of Hannibal, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and savior at 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.
    We all lost a great man whom will always be loved.
    Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.  Father Nicholas Reid will officiate. Burial with Full Military Honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Hannibal, Missouri.
    Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
    Mr. Conner was born August 1, 1948, in Hannibal, Missouri, to Jesse  and Thelma L. Welsch Conner.
    He was married to Darlene Sue Sheffield on May 11, 1968, in New London, MO.  She survives.
    Other survivors include 3 children: Melanie Wasson (Martin), Belinda Smith (Jason), Natalie Guggenheim (Gregg); 1 sister, Lois Benson (Albert);  6 grandchildren: Shelby, Kayla and Joshua Wasson, Haley, Austin and Logan Smith and 1 expected granddaughter, Sophia Rose Guggenheim; special nieces, Linda Von Hagan and Pamela Giandalia and special nephew, Wayne Benson.
    He is preceded in death by his parents.
    Mr. Conner graduated from Mark Twain High School Class of 1966. He then went on to college at Hannibal LaGrange College before entering the service.  Mr. Conner was a United States Army Veteran having served during Vietnam.  He worked for the Burlington Northern and Sante Fe Railroad for nearly 20 years as a track and service man. Mr. Conner enjoyed motorcycles and he loved music. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. He liked going to yard sales and collecting antiques, baseball cards and old toys. Mr. Conner loved spending time with his grandchildren and his friends. He was a member of Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post # 55. Mr. Conner’s attended New London Christian Church.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
    Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Martin Wasson, Gregg Guggenheim, Logan Smith, Austin Smith, and Kayla Wasson.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Ace Foutes, Marvin Boulware, Ray Morton, Dave Powell, Haley Smith, Shelby Wasson, Joshua Wasson and Sophia Guggenheim.
