George E. Spegal, 87, of Hannibal, Mo., died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Frankford, Mo.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Spegal was born October 9, 1925, in Pike County, Mo., to Russell and Ruth Adams Spegal.
He was married to Margaret Brown on February 14, 1954, in Pittsfield, Ill. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Charles Edward Spegal (Gay) and Charles Donald Spegal (Patricia); two brothers, Jack Spegal and Jimmy Spegal (Delene); four grandchildren, Kenneth, Craig, Larry and Carson (Sara); great-grandchildren, Brett, Travis, Austin, Austin Taylor, Kendra Savannah, Shelby Lynn, Brady Ambrose, Elliott Paige; great-great-grandchildren, Gavin Scott, Kameron Taylor and Ethan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters; Virginia McCloud, Gladys Hark and Dorothy Spegal.
Mr. Spegal was a United States military veteran, serving during World War II. He was a farmer. Mr. Spegal enjoyed buying and selling cars. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, especially frog hunting and mushroom hunting.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Russell Spegal, Ronnie Spegal, Hurley Brown, Gary Brown, Bruce Brown and Brian Fowler.
