  • Hannibal’s Shine a Light on Autism Lighthouse Challenge will still occur today, April 20, despite the flooding around Hannibal.
The Mark Twain Memorial Lighthouse steps and the Cardiff Hill Overlook, the site of the events, are untouched by floodwaters.
The Lighthouse Challenge is marking its third year as a fund-raising climb. There are three events: Competitive climbers will have an hour to climb as many flights as possible with prizes for the most flights from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.; Lighthouse challengers set a goal and climb as many flights as they want from 9:15 to 11 a.m.; and Kids climb as many flights as they want from 9:15 to 11 a.m. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Tom and Huck Statue.
The Kids Karnival is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Cardiff Hill Overlook. There will be a bounce house, free games and food and drinks. Many of the games will be available for special needs children.
Shine A Light On Autism strives to spread awareness about autism and raise funds to provide special needs children with recreational and educational opportunities. April is Autism Awareness Month.
