The July 18 trial set for Rebecca Kirk in Pike County Circuit Court has been canceled.
Her attorney, John Morthland, said it all has to do with her change of judge request. He said there's nothing else going on in the case presently.
Kirk was on the docket last week, but did not appear. Morthland made the trip to Bowling Green to formally request a new judge and Judge Chris Kunza Mennemeyer granted that request. Now it's just a watch and wait situation until a new judge is appointed.
At the time, Pike County Prosecutor Mark Fisher said the requested — which was granted by Mennemeyer — will go through the Missouri Supreme Court which will in turn appoint a judge to Kirk's case.
